Music Man
Hudson is all about some music. He always has been. This is good news, because we are a music loving family. Colin plays the guitar, I , well, I used to play the piano (I don't have one to play right now!) and we both like to sing. (Colin more so on kareoke revolution :) ) We love all kinds of music, and it seems that Hudson is falling in that same pattern. Any time music is on, he dances and smiles and claps. When we watched American Idol, if someone started singing, he stopped whatever he was doing to watch them sing. Here is a little music love for ya of Hudson dancin' a little dance.
James Franklin
We have a new family member! James Franklin was born on Friday at 7:00. He weighed 8lbs. and was 21 in. long. He is a very peaceful, calm baby. Laney and Bennett are going to be a wonderful big brother and big sister. They love holding him, and Laney kisses on him and speaks so softly to him. Hudson is excited too, because in a couple of years, they will be great friends! Welcome, James Franklin! We love you very much!

10 Interesting Things from the past Week...
I have quite a few things I would love to share with you but it would take me all night to make 10 different blogs, so I decided to join them into one. This will be a long one! (These are in random order :)- not in order of importance!)
1. STUPID IDEAS...Every once in a while, I do something REALLY stupid :) Well, this weekend was one of those times. We were visiting my sister and she does not have a fence, so we got a stake and leash for our dog Tucker to be tied to. It was very long, so he had plenty of room to run around. But, please learn from me (although you probably would not do this anyway, unless you were having a stupid day).... Do not throw a ball for a dog on stake and leash to go get when you are standing in the middle of the leash. This is what could happen...

2. Happy Anniversary!... Colin and I celebrated our 5th anniversary last Friday! I can't believe it has been that long. We celebrated by going to an Atlanta Braves game. We had a blast! It was a pretty interesting game... there were paratroopers that came parachuting onto the field, the Cubs pitcher got thrown out after the 2nd or 3rd batter, we got whatever we wanted to eat... pizza and Dippin' Dots, and we won in the 8th inning! We were talking after the game about our stats as a couple.... 3 moves, 3 years medical school, 1 baby, 1 dog, 3 cars, 1 700 sq. foot condo (I'm not kidding), 1 home, 3 teaching jobs, 2 years residency, 3 churches, and MUCH more :) I love you, baby, and I wouldn't want to experience any of this with anyone but YOU! I am so thankful for the blessing the Lord has given me in you.

3. Birthdays... My nephew celebrated his 3rd birthday this weekend. It actually isn't for another week, but my sister is due any day with her third child, so we thought it would be better to go ahead and celebrate early just in case! Bennett is such a ball full of energy! He is so caring and loving, but he also has that boy side as well.... he is ALL boy! I love him for that... I could just watch him play for hours. Like at his party, he would tackle his friends, jump off the slide into the kiddie pool, and run around with his swimsuit around his knees :)( pullup on, of course) It's going to be a hoot to see him and Hudson running around playing together in a couple of years! He got a slip and slide, a cowboy hat and guns and gun holsters, a chainsaw and jigsaw with safety goggles, trucks, and we got him croquet.. yes, croquet. He said he wanted it! Here are a few birthday pictures...Jumping off slide

Enjoying cake...

Actually enjoying the water with a friend!

4. Diapers... I think I am going to have to move Hudson up a size in diapers. So sad. Why is it such a big deal? I guess I feel sad that he is growing up so fast! My sister mentioned it to me this weekend and then I left Hudson with Kim last night for date night, and this morning when I changed his diaper, she had left me with the subtle hint of him wearing one of her daughter Caroline's diapers that is a 4. :) Ok, ok.. I get the hint.
5. Bread... I am making my own now :) Grinding the wheat in an electric mill, and making it homemade. Well, in the bread maker. I am so excited because I have read all about the health benefits of the vitamins and nutrients found in freshly milled flour. Hudson was my motivation. And, luckily, we all like it a lot! Now, I can even make muffins, tortilla shells, cookies, etc. with the healthy flour! No, I really am not granola (or, for Shannon, crunchy). I have just thought more about the foods we eat since Hudson was born. Check out Bread Beckers if you are interested! Here is my first loaf:

6. Beauty Basics... Hudson is already concerned about his skin. He is determined to have smooth, wrinkle free skin for his whole life. Here he is spreading an avacado mask all over his face ( and the high chair, for that matter) to prevent aging.

7. Body Pump... I am going to be buff after the summer, because I am taking a body pump aerobics class!! I am excited about it, because it REALLY works you. I could hardly move after the first class. Also, I'm "pumped" about it because Colin and I are having a little competition to see who improves the most in pushups, situps, and with our running time through the summer. I have a little of an unfair advantage since he works all day and night in his job, but oh well... all's fair in love and muscles.
8. I saw a rainbow the other night. The rainbow is a reminder of the promise that God will never again destroy the earth with a flood. But, it was a reminder to me that God gives us so many promises in His word, and He will never break ANY of those promises...

"Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in His name, he gave the right to become children of God" Jn. 1:12
Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you WILL NOT be shaken, nor my covenant of peace be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you. ISA. 54:10
"His divine power has given us EVERYTHING WE NEED for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." 2Pet. 1:3
"Call to me and I will answer you, and tell you great and unsearchable things which you do not know." Jer. 33:3
"For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." Ps. 103:11,12
"Therefore, there is now NO condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death" Rom. 8:1,2
"You will seek me and FIND ME when you seek me with all of your heart" Jer. 29:13
9. Update... My sister is due with her 3rd child ANY day!!! I am so excited! His name is going to be Franklin, and I know that he and Hudson will be best buds. I don't see how she does it... with two already!? (And no complaining, too!) I guess you tap into God given energy that you never knew you could have when you're in a situation like this! God bless her- She is looking and doing great!
10. Hudson... I guess I could give you a little Hudson update. He is growing like crazy, it's getting closer and closer to his 1st birthday ( I can't believe it). He LOVES to play chase around the house, he just cackles when we play that game. He can push his push toys around and cruise on the furniture when he feels like it, but no steps yet. He is a MASTER of the crawling and standing on his feet without holding on, though. He is eating more than Colin and me combined right now, I think! He is a bottomless pit. He calls Tucker "tuh, tuh". Is that his first REAL word? I'm not sure. He gives SWEET kisses now, the ones we don't ask for are the most special ones :) He raises his hands above his hands when we say "SO BIG!"... he IS getting so big. I think his favorite foods right now are avacados and baby nutri grain bars, and my bread, of course! He did get in the pool the other day at Jill's and liked it a lot. YEA! Last but not least, he has learned how to SCREAM!! I mean, ear piercing girlie screams. Yeow! How do you stop it? I don't know. I am sure the people sitting next to us at Chili's would love for us to figure that out!

Summer Days
We are all water bugs in our family. We love swimming and hanging out by the pool - especially Hudson's Reamo and Bill and Dut (grandparents and aunt). Unfortunately, I don't think Hudson got the memo. He's had 3 bathing suits and a baby beach towel waiting for this summer since he was born - all gifts from Colin's side of the family, but I don't know if they will get used very much or not. He has not enjoyed getting in any sized pool of any kind. (Look at the picture of him from Colin's birthday) So, today, I filled up the pool, left it out in the sun, and waited till the water was warm to see if that would help. Nope... take a look...I can't figure it out. I guess we will just keep trying. Now, my dog on the other hand LOVES the water :) Thought I would leave you with a little video of Hudson's dislike of the water and Tucker and his obsession with the water hose. (I also tried to get him to dig at the boats in the pool - he loves the challenge of getting them off the bottom of the pool, but of course he didn't do much of that with the camera on him.)
Memorial Day Weekend and Good Friends
I finally met little Madi! Our friends Matt and Jenn came to visit us over Memorial Day weekend, and I finally got to meet their sweet little girl Madilyn. I was planning on going to visit her in March, but Hudson got sick so we decided to postpone the trip. So, needless to say I was very excited for their visit! We had a great time with Matt and Jenn, playing golf and grilling out at night. We weren't able to do quite as much as we had planned because the babies were not feeling as well as normal. But, we were able to make it to the park and hang out for a while. The picture above is a favorite - I especially the truck hanging out of Hudson's mouth :)
I think Matt is having more fun on the baby swings than Hudson.
Madi is super sweet and super cute!
Here's Hudson already wanting to hold her hand :)
It was so nice to be around them. Meet new friends, keep the old, one is silver and the other gold...Matt taught me that song. :) We miss you guys, and hope to see you again soon. Give Madi a kiss for us!
